And if you thought the Drama Awards Season was taking a rest until the usual end-of-the-year onslaught, guess again. But we still offer our hearty congratulations to Ji Chang Wook for his nomination in the “Male Excellence” category for his role as Ta Hwan in “Empress Ki” at the 2014 APAN (Asia Pacific Actors Network) Star Awards.
The APANs will be held at the Jung Shin Hwa International Hall located on the Chungnam National University in Daejeon on 15 November 2014, and broadcast live at 5:00PM KST on the tvN cable network. In fact, all four leads (Ji Chang Wook, Ha Ji Won, Joo Jin Mo and Baek Jin Hee) were nominated this time around, with Baek Jin Hee receiving a “Best Supporting Actress” nomination (not shown below).
For those not familiar with the APAN Star Awards, it is one of the lesser of these events but still holds some weight in the entertainment community. The ceremony is held in conjunction with the Daejeon Film Festival (this year held from 12 November through 15 November). For 2014, the APANs reviewed all 87 dramas shown on the 3 terrestrial channels (KBS, SBS, MBC) and all cable channels, that aired during the period of 1 October 2013 through 30 September 2014. The APAN Jury consists of drama directors, writers, critics, and other journalists reviewing the 23 categories of awards up for grabs this year. This year’s ceremonies will also take into consideration dramas broadcast across ‘new media,’ with a Special Division Award established for dramas aired only via the Internet and SNS.
A small preview of the upcoming ceremonies:
We have no idea if Our Emperor will attend these festivities due to his heavy filming schedule for “Healer,” but we’ll keep an eye on the news portals and update this post as it gets closer to the broadcast date. Congratulations again to Ji Chang Wook for his nomination!
Hope that our jichangwook won this.
Congrats! Hope Jcw won the award
Congrats JCW for having been nominated, hope you make it since you had performed well on Empress Ki.
