As expected, the promotions for Ji Chang Wook’s debut movie “Fabricated City” have ramped up greatly over the past few days, especially as to its Korean premiere and international release dates. Strap yourselves in… and here goes!
Firstly, the “Fabricated City” VIP Premiere showcase will be held at 8:00pm on 2 6 February 2017 at the CGV Wangsimni Theatres in Seoul. Ji Chang Wook, Shim Eun Kyung, Ahn Jae Hong and Director Park Kwang Hyun are scheduled to attend, along with other special guests.
Another “Star Talk Live” event is planned for 7 February at 7:30pm KST at the CGV Apgujeong featuring Ji Chang Wook and Director Park Kwang Hyun, which is expected to be broadcast via VApp.
Secondly, the official release date for “Fabricated City” in Korea is set for Thursday, 9 February 2017. *fingers crossed for a great turnout*
Thirdly, some North America premiere dates have been provided by CJ Entertainment USA. As CJEnt has done in the past with their Korean productions, a first-week premiere is usually scheduled in Southern California (at the Koreatown CGV Cinemas), and then slowly rolled out in the weeks after to other cities across the U.S. and Canada. Theaters currently on schedule with release dates are:
17 February 2017:
Los Angeles, CA / CGV Cinemas in Koreatown
Buena Park, CA / CGV Buena Park 8 Theatres
24 February 2017:
Dallas-Fort Worth, TX area / CineOasis in Carrollton, TX
Honolulu, HI area / Consolidated Theatres Pearlridge in Aiea, HI
Vancouver, British Columbia area / Cineplex Cinemas Coquitlam in Coquitlam, BC
Toronto, Ontario area / Cineplex Cinemas Empress Walk in North York, ON
*Note: These dates are tentatively scheduled, so it would be wise to consult your area’s theatre listings to ensure the proper dates and times for your local showings.
We have no information as to if or when other countries outside of Korea or cities in North America not mentioned herein will be added to CJ Entertainment’s release schedule. We cannot offer any opinions as to whether or not “your city” will be included in CJ Entertainment’s distribution plans. We’ll keep updating our post when additional areas where “Fabricated City” will be released come online.

I’m a fan of JCW and I live here in southampton ontario too far to toronto.I hope it will shown in cineplex owen sound…
How do i get to watch inside the CGV Wangsimni? Where can i buy the tickets?
If you are referring to the VIP showcase at Wangshimni, the event is only for VIPs and not for the general public. If you are referring to ordinary screenings of the movie at Wangshimni, you can buy your tickets at the CGV box office or website (http://www.cgv.co.kr/ticket/eng/newdefault.aspx).
Thanks very much, but would this mean this is a red carpet event where i can see JCW before entering the cinema?
Likely so. This seems to be the case for most VIP premieres.
I’m looking forward to this movie..but I read somewhere that he wanted take a break from action. Yet here he is again..lol. It’s all good though, anything to watch something new from him. But how I wish and plead to the drama gods that he do a romantic-comedy-drama with Park Shin Hye before he leaves for the army (or with whomever!). I hope it happens 🙂
“Fabricated City” started filming in July 2015 and finished in January 2016, which was well before his post-The K2 comment about stepping back from action activities.
i’ll definitely watch this!!! So glad, it will be coming out here! Yay!
I’m sure everyone will get a chance to watch it – either on the big screen or on a website. Because wookie has gone global.
I just watched a YouTube clip of JCW singing and “dancing” (always too cute) in The Days. It caused me to become more curious about the musical so I Googled “plot of Korean musical The Days”.
A summary/overview came up and now I’m curious as to what happened to JCW’s character and “She”. It says they ran off together but later, it is revealed that something more nefarious happened to them. I will never get to S. Korea to actually watch the play (unless I win the lottery (which I never buy lotto tickets), someone decides to broadcast the play or make a movie out of it). Can anyone tell me what actually happened to them?
Firstly, Korean musicals are never broadcast in their entirety due to the strict copyright laws in Korea; this is why all we see are clips here and there. Also, Korean musicals are never released via DVD or any other medium for the same reasons. Saying that, we were waiting for the production to come to a complete stop before putting together a recap for “The Days.” Since the production is still being performed through March 2017 (albeit without Ji Chang Wook in the cast), we’re going to have to wait a bit longer to post so as to not spoil the storyline for our followers who may still want to travel to Seoul for the encore performances.
oh! i wished it will be shown in the Philippines, too! Filipinos are a big fan of kdramas, and JCW is one of the most admired k-actor in the Philippines. Looking forward for Fabricated City. This is daebak!
I think I will try to go to Buena Park theatre to watch his movie ( it has Eng sub , right? Or do they voice dubbing?). I guess many JCW fans in South CA will watch his new movie in either LA or Buena Park . See you there !
Going to LA too but I am from Scottsdale, Arizona. Soooo excited! I’m bringing a friend…more ticket sales. I wish someday we could meet each other. Maybe we should wear a headband on our forehead with our JCW name….hahahaha!
@Betty White…you’re never too old for fan meets! I’m older and have added meeting JCW to my “bucket list”. Like you, JCW dramas, JCW news, JCW music and photos have brought happiness and excitement to my busy daily life. It is very difficult to watch other movies after viewing his. So glad that the opportunity to participate in his big screen debut is possible. Looking forward to going to LA to see this movie. Thank you JCW Kitchen!
Nice to know I’m not alone in being an “old figure”! I’ll join you in your bucket list. When I saw pics of him modeling in La Jolla, I thought to myself, I wish I’d known–I’d have gone there and tried to get a close-up view of him. He has such a boyish charm about him that I find so endearing. I’ve been to LA countless times and seen Harrison Ford, Gabriel Byrne, and countless other stars in Barney’s and restaurants, but never once have I asked for an autograph, handshake, or anything. Nor would I with Ji Chang Wook–I’d just like to see him in person. Heck, I’m even teaching myself Korean because of him and because I’d like to know what is REALLY being said in these shows I’m hooked on. Sorry–I got taken away! Just good to know I’m not too old to want to meet a young lad like him and wish him the best in life. I know it doesn’t come easily and there will be many sacrifices on the way, so he’ll have to decide what’s most important to him and let the other stuff fall by the wayside.
Should say old fogie, not figure. Autocorrect is a pain at times.
I saw him when he came out to LA for the konus event – in the hotel lobby. If you get a chance, go to a fan meeting rather than hope to catch sight of him in passing – because he really walks by quickly and he might be wearing sunglasses and a mask and then you’ll end up missing his gorgeous face.
Hoping it comes to the theatre in Houston that usually shows these movies!
Is it possible it will be shown in the philippines?
Maybe if this movie become really hit!
So sad it won’t be showing in San Francisco. Boo hoo.
hello there! i’m an avid fan of jcw. everytime i watched his drama, gosh, i cant move on…he’s very good actor, almost perfect!.he moved people w/ his acting..and this movie of his, why not consider here in the Philippine, especially now a days, it’s a good timing! More power jcw!!!we love you
I’m thrilled to learn his movie will be shown here in SoCal! I live about 30 minutes from Buena Park and am definitely going to go see it. I’m a 62 year old woman w/a son older than JCW, and if he were my son, I’d be proud beyond belief! I’d never heard of him until about 8 months ago when I saw Empress Ki and was totally blown away by his acting. I’ve seen everything he’s ever acted in (except a couple of his very early shows) and he keeps growing. He’s incredibly talented–I also have all his songs. I’ve never “followed” any actor or actress, but he’s worth watching. I just wish he’d go back to melodrama like Empress Ki and stop with all the action films. I loved “Healer” but was disappointed in “The K2” although I stuck with it. I’m sorry he’s going into the military for two years. Hopefully he won’t lose his momentum. I wish him all the luck in the world, but with his work ethic, he doesn’t need luck! I wish he’d have fan meetings in the US, but I guess I’m a bit too old to attend something like that anyway.
I am so glad to hear from a US fan! I also discovered JCW about one year ago and am hooked ever since. I totally agree with you that he is far superior in acting ability and work ethic compare to his peers. HE IS A JAM!
Also, please don’t feel that you are too old to attend his fan meeting if he comes to near you! There is no age limit for liking somebody if someone is special as him. Tell you the truth, I am almost your age, too! If he ever comes to US then I am definitely attending!
I’m also a fan. I started watching dramas 4 years ago. Having many medical issues with my husband. Joe has been on dialysis for 17 years. I started having anxiety issues. My first drama was 100 year inheritance and I watched it for six months over and over. It helped me through a time where I needed to escape and heal my own health. I’ve watched hundreds of dramas since then and have fallen in love with so many characters and dramas. I can’t choose just one actor/ actress because so many have help me through many sad times. I laughed and cried and experienced many emotions I thought I had lost. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. God Bless you.
No Betty, age doesn’t matter who we want to like. I’m also a fan of JCW and believe me, it’s worth it. Not like other women same as our age are depressed because they do not know what to do. Us, we know what and who to like JCW is a very good kid and serious with his career. That’s the one character I have like in him and on top of a good looking actor. I just want to hope I could see him here in the States. Fighting!
Hopefully OnDemandKorea will have it on is Pay Per View. I’ll gladly pay to see this upon it’s release, even though it probably won’t have subs.
I hope JCW will attend the premier here in Toronto
Hi there! I’m a fan of JCW I lived here in Ottawa Ontario. I’m looking forward to this movie. I’ve read the movie showing in Canada but it’s in Toronto, is it possible that it would be shown in Ottawa cinemas too? I would be very grateful if my request would be granted. Thanks a lot.
We do not have the ability to predict what CJ Entertainment’s distribution plans are for “Fabricated City.” We suggest keeping an eye on this post and your local theatres’ websites for news of its upcoming release in your area.
Wow…JCW’s US fans will get to see JCW’s movie before the rest of Asia! Lucky lucky fans!!
It would be great if this movie was brought to Russia!!!
OMG!!! This is a great news! I can actually have a chance to watch JCW”s first star movie in a big screen! Thank you so much for informing us! I am sooooooo excited!
