In a ceremony held on 22 February 2019, “Shinheung Military School” leads Ji Chang Wook, Kang Ha Neul and Kim Sung Kyu were appointed Goodwill Ambassadors by the Republic of Korea’s Military Manpower Administration.
The appointment ceremony was part of the MMA’s “Fair Military Culture Campaign,” held at the MMA’s Air Force Center in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul. Here we see “Shinheung Military School” co-star Oh Jin Young and Military Manpower Administration Commissioner Ki Chan Soo posing with our soldiers after the presentation of their letters of recommendation.
As part of the events held in tandem with their appointments as Goodwill Ambassadors, the soldiers participated in various health events at the Military Manpower Administration’s health inspection site in Yeongdeungpo, such as physical examinations and blood collection. Ouch!
Various members of the Military Manpower Administration attending the ceremony were lining up for the opportunity to have their pictures taken with our newly-appointed Goodwill Ambassadors.
These Goodwill Ambassador appointments will require Ji Chang Wook, Kang Ha Neul and Kim Sung Kyu to participate in publicity events and other activities relating to the Fair Military Culture Campaign through December 2019, well after both Wook and Haneul have been discharged.
Congratulations to Ji Chang Wook for yet another award to add to his ever-growing list! 충성!

Soooo, from the actors’ personal points of view, is this a good thing?
I mean, I know, of course, it’s an honor but could this also mean they’re bound to these future events even if the events conflict with his working schedule?
After conscripted soldiers finish their military service, they are automatically placed on the military reserve roster, and are required to attend a few days of annual military training for 6 years after their discharge. Wook still being involved with the Military Manpower Association should count towards his reserve training at least through 2019. Thereafter, soldiers are required to be on base for their reserve duties; entertainment and production agencies are cognizant of this requirement and make adjustments accordingly to schedules.
Thanks for the answer. 🙂
