WOW that was fast! Rumours ran rampant on the set of “Melting Me Slowly” that Ji Chang Wook was already reviewing scripts in advance of his next drama project. Today, Glorious Entertainment alerted the Korean press that Wook has been forwarded the script for upcoming tvN drama “LUCA,” and is reported to be ‘favourably reviewing’ the same.
“LUCA” (an acronym for “Last Universal Common Ancestor”) will be focused on a story adapted from Charles Darwin’s claim that all creatures have a common ancestor in the origin of species. “LUCA” is not thought to be the first life on Earth, but only one of many early organisms, with all the others becoming extinct. Darwin first proposed the theory of universal common descent through an evolutionary process in his 1859 book On the Origin of Species. So instead of being frozen, Wook will be studying genetics instead. 🙂
The script is to be penned by Cheon Seong Il, who wrote “Chuno,” “Runaway Plan B,” “Class 7 Civil Service,” “The Package,” and “Liar Game.” Director will be Kim Hong Sun, who directed “Voice 1” “Black,” “The Gust,” and “Warrior Baek Dong Soo,” which Ji Chang Wook starred in back in 2011.
“LUCA” will consist of 12 episodes and be pre-produced. tvN has yet to announce a firm release date for “LUCA,” but the first episode could possibly be scheduled for early-to-mid 2020. We will update this post as more news becomes available!
