[Drama] Ji Chang Wook attends first script reading for “Convenience Store Saet Byeol”

On 7 May, SBS’s new Friday-Saturday drama “Convenience Store Saet Byeol” (written by Son Geun Ju; directed by Lee Myung Woo) released its first photos of the script reading.

With its first broadcast scheduled for 12 June, “Convenience Store Saet Byeol” is a 24-hour unpredictable comic romance in which a flamboyant handsome manager and a smart, four-dimensional part-timer will take over a convenience store.  Director Lee Myung Woo (of the mega-hit drama “The Fiery Priest,” which heated up the small screen last year), will take the megaphone and once again give viewers pleasant energy.

Script reading photos from “Convenience Store Saet Byeol,” including writer Son Geun Ju, director Lee Myung Woo, JI Chang Wook, Kim Yoo Jung, Han Sun Hwa and Laboum’s Solbin show the actors at the strong start of the drama.  On this day, it is rumored that the actors’ fun breathing was shining just by reading, and burst into laughter without a break.

First of all, Ji Chang Wook, who plays the role of Choi Dae Hyun, a passionate youth who risks his life by working at a convenience store, stirred the scene with his sense of humor which added to his life-friendly acting.  Choi Dae Hyun, the manager of the store who pretends to be tough but keeps trying to thwart the part-timer Jung Saet Byeol (played by Kim Yoo Jung), expressed his sloppy charm perfectly, causing laughter.  Ji Chang Wook, as the handsome store manager who makes people want to go to a convenience store, heralded a charm attack, raising expectations.

Introducing herself as “I’m Jung Saet Byeol, the best part-timer at a convenience store,” Kim Yoo Jung has already become involved in the character Jung Saet Byeol, increasing her immersion.  Kim Yoo Jung’s performance, which lovingly melts the charm of part-timer Jung Saet Byeol, a “timebomb-like part-timer” who doesn’t know where to go, made everyone at the scene fall in love, foreshadowing Kim Yoo Jung’s ‘life character’ renewal.

In addition, the drama’s unique character, which will breathe life into the space called “Shinseong-dong Convenience Store,” was also featured. Young actors such as Han Sun Hwa as Yoo Yeon Joo (who plays Ji Chang Wook’s girlfriend), Laboum’s Solbin (who plays Kim Yoo Jung’s younger sister, Jung Eun Byeol), and secondary characters Seo Ye Hwa and Yoon Soo, who will show off their best friend chemistry with Kim Yoo Jung, added vitality to the play with their unusual charms.  Also, veteran actors such as Lee Byung Joon (as Ji Chang Wook’s father), Gopchang Restaurant owner Woo Hyun, and the “Four Great Kings” (four old men who dominate the Shinseong-dong alley) showed off their presence with their tasteful lines.  On top of that, the special guests who will visit the convenience store filled the script reading with plenty of content, and made people look forward to this “character romance” drama.

After the script reading, director Lee Myung Woo said, “I’m very excited and excited to see the characters in the script meet you and breathe alive.  I have a belief that ‘Convenience Store Saet Byeol’ will be a work that will give good energy to many people.  It is a story that unfolds against the backdrop of ‘convenience stores,’ which are easily found in our daily lives.  I’m going to make a drama full of people’s smiles, a drama full of cheerful laughter and emotions, so please look forward to it and show it a lot of interest.”

  1. I’m so looking forward to watching his new drama. I really like the main actor and actress here. They’re so compatible regardless of the 12-year age gap. JCW just looks so young and fresh in the white hoodie jacket! I’ve read the manhwa online (up to episode 40 in English translation), and it’s quite comical. It’s also good to know that they will have some “special guests” in the drama.
