On 1 December, it was reported by several news outlets that Ji Chang Wook has been offered the lead role in an upcoming Netflix original drama, entitled “Annarasumanara.”
Ji Chang Wook was approached to play the role of the magician Lee Eul, a mysterious figure living in an abandoned amusement park. “Annarasumanara” (“안나라수마나라”) will be based on the popular 2010 Naver webtoon of the same name by the author Ha Il Kwon. The webtoon follows the story of a poor high school girl named Yun Ai, who loses her dream of becoming a magician and lives a difficult life struggling to feed herself and her little sister, until she meets a mysterious magician who has yet to grow up. Their lives begin to change, all the while asking, “Do you believe in magic?”
“Annarasumanara” will be directed by Kim Sung Yoon, who has several hit shows already in his portfolio, including KBS2’s “Love in the Moonlight” and JTBC’s “Itaewon Class.” Other cast members have yet to be announced.
As always, since Ji Chang Wook is currently considering this new role (and several others) and casting has yet to be fully confirmed by Glorious Entertainment, we await the official announcement!
As this is a developing story, updates will follow when announced.
