Director Oh Seung Wook’s new film “Revolver” (“리볼버”) confirmed the casting of Jeon Do Yeon, Ji Chang Wook and Lim Ji Yeon, and began filming for the first time in June.Distributor Plus M Entertainment announced this on 5 July, and released photos from the script reading of “Revolver” featuring Jeon Do Yeon, Ji Chang Wook, and Lim Ji Yeon.

As we reported back in March 2023 (link), “Revolver” is a movie about a former police officer nicknamed “Swimmer,” who embarks on a single-minded goal upon leaving jail, after serving a sentence for crimes committed under dubious circumstances.”  Director Oh Seung Wook’s 2015 film “The Shameless,” which was well-received for its in-depth story and understated production, “Revolver” will be his second encounter with Jeon Do Yeon since “The Shameless.”

Jeon Do Yeon, who continues to be active with the Netflix movie “Kill Bok-soon,” which presented her the ‘action queen’ modifier, and the drama “Crash Course in Romance,” which caused a syndrome-class craze, plays Ha Soo Yeong, a former police officer who has lost everything she promised.

Ji Chang Wook, who is gaining global popularity by appearing in the dramas “Empress Ki,” “Suspicious Partner” and Netflix series “Annarasumanara,” plays Andy, who adds tension to Ha Soo Yeong’s journey to find the truth.  Ji Chang Wook sheds his existing gentle and friendly image and shows his transformation.

Lim Ji Yeon, who made her face known around the world through the Netflix series “The Glory,” plays Jung Yoon Sun, who accompanies We Soo Young for her purpose, and creates a new chemistry with Jeon Do Yeon.  Attention is focusing on what kind of story and synergy South Korea’s leading actors Jeon Do Yeon, Ji Chang Wook and Lim Ji Yeon will meet to show, and what the second meeting between director Oh Seung Wook and Jeon Do Yeon, who were recognized for their work by entering the Cannes Film Festival with the movie “shameless,” will look like.

Rumor has it that the reading scene of “Revolver” where the actors gathered in one place, was full of energy with the passion of deeply immersed actors.  Although it was a reading in a comfortable manner, the actors’ inner workings and energy reminded all of the atmosphere of the filming site.  The film will be produced by Sanai Pictures, who introduced movie audiences to “The Shameless,” “The New World,” “The Spy Gone North” and “Hunt.”

“Revolver” is speeding up its crank-in shooting from June.  A release date has yet to be announced.
