The Seoul Art Center Opera House is located at 700 Seocho-dong in the Seocho-gu neighborhood of Seoul, South Korea, easily accessible by Subway Lines 2, 3 and 4.

It is a cylindrical building with a roof in the shape of a lampshade. At the time of its design and construction, it was called the “Festival Theater,” but when it opened in 1993, the official name of Seoul Opera Theater (Opera House) was changed.  The 2,305-seat Opera Theater is utilized for large-scale opera, ballet and musical performances; the 710-seat Towol Theater is utilized for plays, small-scale musicals and operas; and a 300-600-seat flexible small theater is utilized for small experimental performances.  It forms the central axis of the entire Seoul Arts Center.

The layout of the venue is below (yes, there are 3 balconies above the main floor).  Take into consideration that if you wish to purchase OP (Orchestra), you will be sitting lower than the stage and your view may be hindered accordingly.  Same with the Loge (box) seats along the sides of the auditorium; some may be view-restricted due to equipment hanging from the ceiling.

To increase your chances of scoring a seat at what looks to be quite the Event of the Year, we highly recommend signing up for an account on the sales portal of choice, and making sure your credit card information is up-to-date and can readily accept international purchases.

And now, for some Public Service Announcements.  Many seats are still available for Ji Chang Wook’s performances – they may have sold out as soon as the performance were announced, but now the exchanges and refunds are starting to be processed.  Unfortunately, we have been seeing a LOT of social media posts re-selling “The Days” tickets online, and all we can suggest is to try and avoid dealing with individual resellers or other platforms.  We would hate it if you flew halfway across the world for the shows, only to be turned away at the venue for possessing an invalid ticket.

Also take into consideration the following Rules and Regulations at the venue itself:

The Kitchen plans on attending performances from 22 August through 3 September.  See you at the Seoul Arts Center Opera House!

  1. I am so sad that I won’t be able to see JCW on stage! We arrive in Seoul (from Australia) on 7th November – will he be performing on stage at that time?

    • Hi there! We just posted about the 1st regional tour – there are no plans for performances in Seoul after this run ends on 3 September. Your best bet is to look at the Daejeon dates on 17 and 19 November. As soon as the casting schedule is announced, we will update it here.

  2. Hi  I will also be going on 27/8 for JCW musical. Can I join you all there ?:) Vena
