[Magazine] Ji Chang Wook and Wi Ha Joon’s ‘noir’ for ELLE Korea

Ji Chang Wook.  Wi Ha Joon.  Two gentle men encountered in the midst of evil with “The Worst of Evil.”

Actors Ji Chang Wook and Wi Ha Joon had a heated meeting with fashion magazine ELLE.  The pictorial captures the elegantly sparkling “noir” moment between the two, who worked together in Disney+’s original series “The Worst of Evil.”  Ji Chang Wook and Wi Ha Joon showed off their irreplaceable presence, raising expectations for their intense chemistry in the drama.

In an interview conducted after the photo shoot, Ji Chang Wook, who plays Park Joon Mo, a police officer who infiltrates the organization undercover, said, “The subject of the undercover investigation may feel common.  However, as soon as I saw the scenario of ‘The Worst of Evil,’ I felt that the color of the work was certain.  He raised expectations, saying, “I was sure that a new and much more ‘Younger’ criminal action film would come out.”

When Ji Chang Wook asked who he wanted to gain trust like Joon-mo, who is trying to gain trust for the operation, he said, “They are the directors and staff we meet on the spot.  Because it is something created between people, I always try to convey trust and inspiration to them.”  Regarding Wi Ha Joon, with whom he worked together for the first time, he also said, “I really liked working with Ha-joon. There is a difference in acting style, but there is synergy between the two characters in the play who are in a close relationship. You can look forward to it,” he said, expressing his affection.

Wi Ha Joon, who plays Jung Ki Chul, the Gangnam Alliance boss infiltrated by Park Joon Mo, also said about Ji Chang Wook, “Watching his attitude and passion toward his work, I clearly felt why he was able to reach his current position as an actor.  He is always bright and playful on set, and in the meantime, takes good care of everyone.”  Ha-joon expressed his affection, saying, “He was a good influence on me as a person as well.”

Wi Ha Joon, who explained that he and Ki-chul have something in common, saying, “They don’t show their feelings often and have a sense of responsibility for their people.”  When asked about the criteria for determining whether someone is actually on your side or not, he said, “It’s not a standard, but what people always have in common with the people who are always by your side.  The point is to increase the value of the other person and respect them.  He tends to feel affection and trust in people who can also say bitter things at the same time.”

“The Worst of Evil,” scheduled to be released on 27 September, is a crime action drama depicting the process of police officer Joon-mo infiltrating Ki-chul’s organization to completely destroy the Gangnam Alliance, the center of drug trafficking in the 1990s.  The pictorials of Ji Chang Wook and Wi Ha Joon can be found in the October issue of ELLE and on ELLE’s website.  An interview video containing the two’s unique chemistry will also be released through ELLE’s YouTube channel and ELLE’s Instagram.
