[Drama] “Healer” drama synopsis and character description (Updated 19 Sept)

fdfkl

Drama synopsis (as written by writer Song Ji Na):

In the early 1980s, there were five friends who ran an illegal radio station.
Back then, the world was much simpler.
It was clear what had to be defended and fought for.
The way to go forth was like a straight line.
But reality destroys ideals.
Time teaches one about betrayal and compromise.

Now, their children have grown up to their twenties.
One of them became an agent who steals the secrets of others at night.
Another is a paparazzi who digs for information about others behind their backs.
In this damned world left behind by their parents,
political and societal justice are just unlucky words to them.

But there is one person who will take them forward. Thanks to him…
These children now start to harbour the same dreams as their parents.  A dream to become a real reporter.
But in order to become true reporters, there is a wall that they have to overcome.
This world that their parents have shaped and left behind for them.

Will these children be able to become the real reporters that their parents once dreamt of?
Will they be able to untie the knots of the past and change the world?

“The world messed with us first,” one person among us said.
“No, it is us who have sinned against the world,” yet another person said.
– Hwang Jin Woo, from “Within the Broad-leaved Forest”

Actress Do Ji Won has been confirmed to star in “Healer” as Myung Hee, a woman with many secrets. Myung Hee is a weak but upright woman, and also has a spinal injury which makes her unable to walk. She will be an important character related to Park Min Young’s character, Chae Young Shin. Her agency, Namoo Actors, said that Do Ji Won has been studying a lot about the speech and movements of Myung Hee. This will be her first reunion with Ji Chang Wook in 4 years since they acted as mother and son in the drama “Smile Donghae”.

27 August update:

Actress Woo Hee Jin looks set to join the cast of ‘Healer’ as a female reporter Kang Min Jae, who is the department head of a newsroom at a public broadcasting station. Her character is described as a young reporter with a firm set of beliefs, who is able to make wise judgements as to how far she should suck up to someone or look down on others. Sounds like a shrewd woman to me.

Woo Hee Jin is currently starring in the MBC drama “Jang Bo Ri is Here” and is said to be in the final stage of discussions to join ‘Healer’. A spokesman for ‘Healer’ said that she is positively considering the role, and her agency said that she has verbally agreed to join.

Strangely, this news report says that ‘Healer’ is expected to air in November after ‘Iron Man’, which is on Wednesday and Thursday. That was the slot ‘Healer’ was originally given, but it was eventually decided that ‘Face Reader’ would take the Wed-Thurs slot and ‘Healer’ was shifted to the Mon-Tues slot instead. With ‘Face Reader’ facing copyright issues now, there have been some rumors as to whether KBS will be changing its programme lineup again. So far there has been no official news about such changes, so we will just assume that this article has made a mistake, and ‘Healer’ will probably still be aired in December on Mondays and Tuesdays.

[Instagram update] Soccer with Park Min Woo – 18 August 2014

After a quick trip to Hong Kong for a photo shoot (which purpose is still unknown), Ji Chang Wook is back at the soccer pitch in Korea.

Seen here with his friend Park Min Woo, a fellow actor and team mate in the celebrity soccer team, it seems like Ji Chang Wook had a ball of a time playing soccer in the rain. Tsk tsk, boys will be boys.
